Leadership Development

Individual Leadership Coaching
LRI helps leaders achieve meaningful growth in their skills and capabilities. Our leadership coaches work directly and confidentially with our clients to leverage their strengths, address areas of growth, and make them a more effective manager and leader.
- Best Practices for Professional Development - This tool compares the relative value of three different types of professional development: training, coaching, and on-the-job experience.
- Leadership Styles - This tool describes four different leadership styles. It shows you how to identify your own style, then provides a chart showing the strengths and weaknesses of each style.
LRI’s individual coaching engagements usually begin with face-to-face meetings. We then utilize several assessments to obtain feedback from superiors, peers, and subordinates. That feedback flows into an Individual Development Plan (IDP), a written document that details specific development goals and describes specific strategies for achieving them. The coach then works on a regular basis with the client to ensure that they are progressing with their development plan.
Talent Management and Succession Planning
Succession planning is the process by which business leaders ensure they have the right talent on board to achieve strategic goals. This includes confirming the availability of ready successors, building bench strength for key roles, aligning ready talent with the strategic direction of the larger organization, and filling key openings quickly from within. Companies that identify, build, retain, and optimally deploy strong talent will have a distinct leadership advantage.
Succession Planning for Partnerships - This tool provides a snapshot of how strategic planning can lay the groundwork for success in succession planning. It shows the steps needed to make the two processes intertwine.
One of the most important parts of succession planning is defining the competencies critical to the organization's success. Competencies are used to:
- Communicate the key behaviors required for individual and organizational success.
- Provide a starting point for evaluating individual leadership capability.
- Shape IDPs.
- Determine the content of leadership development programs.
Once high-potential individuals are identified, our consultants focus on developing the role that these individuals hold within the larger context of the organization. This integrated approach ensures that the organization optimizes its bench strength quickly and efficiently.
Leadership Team Development
Successful teams are characterized by clarity of purpose, clear operating rules, strong communication, and high levels of trust. The right mentoring can make the difference between mediocre and exceptional leadership. Using our Team Building Tools, we help teams improve communication, develop sound operating principles, and create clear measures of success. The result is significantly higher levels of trust, productivity, and team accountability.

Leadership Transition
One of the most critical times in a new executive’s career is the initial phase of assuming the office. During this high-pressure period, the executive may feel as though there are extreme demands on his or her time and everything must be done immediately. Without the right tools to make it through this phase, many new executives fail at their roles.
LRI provides practical and customized approaches to facilitate leadership transition and ensure that the department or organization supports the goals of the new executive. Our experts provide coaching to the executive and the direct support staff team in several areas, including making decisions, creating solutions, delineating short-term and long-term activities, and coordinating diverse responsibility areas.
